Osiris Visible Learning World Conference 2016
Jill Harland and Jo Davies were extremely proud and privileged to be invited to speak at the Visible Learning World Conference held in London on the 25th and 26th January 2016.
This was an amazing two day conference where world leaders in the field of Visible Learning presented their latest research on strategies to improve learning and over 600 delegates from around the world attended. John Hattie, Professor Guy Claxton, Mick Waters and James Nottingham were just a few of the exciting featured speakers and it was wonderful to hear their latest 'gems' of information first hand. To be considered as a school who incorporates many of the principles of Visible Learning and to present our learning journey to others was incredible.
Visible Learning 'Gems'
We have heard some amazing ideas over the last two days. These are some of the ones that resonated with us:
'Uplifting those we serve by uplifting those who serve them' - Professor Andy Hargreaves
'Students are the potential, not the problem' - Peter DeWitt
'Leading the right things in the right way for the right reasons' - Professor Andy Hargreaves
'We show pupils where to look, not what to see' - Kristin Anderson
Positive Feedback
We received some very positive feedback including the following email:
'I have just got back to work after the Visible Learning Conference and just wanted to drop you a quick email to say that I found your presentation on Monday really useful and interesting. It was a highlight for me and I have come to school ready to look into P4C, ASK and coaching. I loved the "I can, I will, Watch me!" and "I can't do it... YET". I'll be having a look at your website for inspiration.
The action research was also interesting and something that I will definitely be looking into.
Thanks for the ideas! '
